Report: Arne Slot wants Liverpool to sign £27.4m striker tipped to become the next Roberto Firmino

Arne Slot wants Liverpool to sign a £27.4m-rated striker tipped to become the next Roberto Firmino, according to a recent report.

The Reds are set for all change this summer, as the Slot era begins following Jurgen Klopp’s emotional farewell.

Having finished third last term, the onus will be on the new man to maintain a top-four finish as a minimum and to do that, he’ll need to be backed in the fast-approaching summer transfer window.

With that said, it seems Slot has already identified a striking target.

Liverpool interested in Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier

According to Sportbild, Liverpool are interested in signing Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier this summer.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a productive season in the Bundesliga, netting 16 goals whilst laying on three assists.

Beier can operate off both flanks as well as upfront, evincing his terrific versatility – an increasingly popular trait in today’s game.

The Reds face competition from Premier League trio Manchester United, Nottingham Forest and Brentford.

Beier is thought to have a £27.4m release clause in his contract.

Maximilian Beier the next Roberto Firmino

Beier has naturally drawn comparisons to Liverpool legend Roberto Firmino, with the pair both at Hoffenheim early in their career.

Though, the statistics appear to back that notion up, as he ranks in the top 11 per cent for progressive passes received compared to his positional peers across Europe, evincing his terrific movement.

Further, he sits in the top 21 per cent for successful take-ons, another trait Firmino seemed to have in abundance.

If Beier is even half the player Firmino was at Liverpool, Slot could sign a very proficient forward for the next decade.
