Report: How Levi Colwill really feels about leaving Chelsea after claims he's heard about Liverpool interest

Liverpool are seemingly hot in the market for a new centre-back this summer.

The Reds have already lost Joel Matip since the end of the season and could do with replacing the veteran defender.

With Ibrahima Konate out of form and Jarell Quansah still developing, Arne Slot is slightly short of options at the back.

Ideally, it seems as though Liverpool would like a left-sided centre-back. And in that spirit, Chelsea’s Levi Colwill has again emerged as a target.

And after claims that Liverpool have made it known to Colwill that they’d like to bring him to Anfield, the 21-year-old has now come to a decision.

Levi Colwill makes Chelsea transfer decision

Liverpool have been keen on Colwill for some time now. The Reds were circling last summer before the England international signed a new contract.

Now tied down at Stamford Bridge until 2029, it feels like a long shot for Liverpool to get Colwill. Nevertheless, that hasn’t stopped them from trying.

You can understand why the Reds are so enamoured by the youngster. He looks like potentially being one of the best centre-backs in Europe one day.

Under the right management, Colwill could really flourish. It’s also apparent that Chelsea could do with making a sale for Premier League Profit and Sustainability reasons.

With that perfect storm gathering though, The Express have given an update into the likelihood of Colwill leaving the Blues this summer.

They claim that amid interest from Bayern Munich, the young defender has decided that he’s happy to stay with his current club into next season.

Chelsea are also reportedly not actively looking to sell Colwill, despite their precarious situation regarding financial rules.

Having said that, The Express do claim that Chelsea could actually be tempted to sell their academy graduate should a ‘huge’ offer come in. There’s no mention of Liverpool here, although it is reported that Bayern and Chelsea have now tentatively discussed the possibility of a transfer for Colwill.

Liverpool should test Levi Colwill resolve

If Liverpool really do want Colwill, then it sounds like he could be available for the right price this summer.

Quite what that price would be is the question that FSG will be asking themselves. It’s hard to see the Liverpool owners stumping up a mega fee.

Having tracked Colwill for a long while though, they may never get a better opportunity to make their move.

Colwill is reportedly a boyhood Liverpool fan and although he seemingly doesn’t want to leave, if Chelsea are open to a big offer then surely he could be persuaded.

In our opinion, we’re not altogether convinced that Colwill is the player Liverpool think he is. But if Michael Edwards and co think he’s worth breaking the bank for, then that’s something we can get behind.
