Prince William was injured on June 3, 1991, at the age of 8 in a much-publicized golfing accident that required surgery for a fractured skull. During a play session with a friend at school, the future king was accidentally struck on the forehead by a golf club.

This incident left him with a mark on his forehead, which he humorously likened to "Harry Potter's scar" due to its distinctive appearance.

"I call it that because it glows sometimes, and some people notice it — other times they don't notice it at all," His Royal Highness once remarked about the injury. "I got hit by a golf club when I was playing golf with a friend of mine. We were on a putting green, and the next thing you know, there was a seven iron — and it came out of nowhere and hit me in the head."

During his visit to Wales on Tuesday, June 11, to investigate businesses and organizations harnessing seaweed's advantages, Derek Walker, future generations commissioner for Wales, referred to the past incident where he suffered a head injury. The monarch-in-waiting listened and spoke to entrepreneurs gathered at Cardiff Metropolitan University to discuss investing in the sector and showcase products utilizing seaweed, which Walker described as a "potent resource."

The tech-savvy heir to the throne took to Instagram before his arrival and shared: "En route to Cardiff today to celebrate seaweed innovation!"

The injury caused a minor scandal at the time as tabloids and paparazzi investigated who was at the hospital with the young prince etc. Charles, the then-Prince of Wales, was criticized in the press for "speeding off to the Royal Opera House" for an engagement as soon as he learned William's procedure went well. Diana, Princess of Wales, stayed with her young son the entire time he was in the hospital.

William's cheeky insight comes amid reports suggesting that the prince and his wife, Kate, Princess of Wales, are "reconnecting" during Her Royal Highness' treatments for cancer.

"The announcement that the royals won’t be able to work as much has been unexpected, but it will allow Kate and William to spend more time together," a royal source told an outlet.

"They’ve been reconnecting and are closer than ever," they added. "Kate’s feeling strong enough to be very involved with the kids. She’s been an active parent. However, when it comes to Middleton’s duties to her country, her role within the monarchy is reportedly up in the air."

The last time the Prince and Princess of Wales attended a public royal engagement together was on Christmas Day, 2023, at St Mary Magdalene Chuch on the Sandringham estate.
