Police bodycam footage captures moment Taser is drawn on drug dealer hiding in Soham garage

The moment a drug dealer who fled police and hid in a garage was found was caught on a police officer’s bodyworn camera.

The officer draws his Taser on Reece Reddington, 36, of no fixed address, and tells him not to move.

Reddington had fled from officers in Celandine View, Soham, and sought refuge in a garage.

He was spotted throwing a mobile phone in a nearby garden and it was found to contain hundreds of messages relating to drug dealing.

Two days later, he was being treated in hospital while still in custody. But Reddington ran from the hospital and evaded police at the scene. He was arrested again two weeks later in Fordham.

Reddington was sentenced at Peterborough Crown Court on Friday (31 May) to two years in prison after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of class B drugs and escape from lawful custody.

Det Con Jess Freeman, who investigated, said: “Reddington initially ran from officers to evade arrest, and then later, while under arrest, unlawfully left hospital.

“He’s now got two years to think about the consequences of his actions. There is no place for drug dealing and associated criminality in our county.”
