‘The way he conducts himself’: Journalist says Unai Emery doesn’t like how £20m Aston Villa player behaves

Jhon Duran is being linked with a move away from Aston Villa.

The young striker is said to be a target for Chelsea with a £25m move touted, and, by the sounds of it, a Villa Park departure could be on the cards.

Indeed, Duran could well be on his way out this summer.

According to Dean Jones, speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Duran isn’t a player that Unai Emery is a fan of.

The journalist says that Duran could leave Villa, claiming that Unai Emery isn’t a huge fan of the player in terms of the way he conducts himself.

Unai Emery not a fan of Jhon Duran’s behaviour

Jones shared what he knows about the striker and his future at Villa.

“Jhon Duran to Chelsea has been spoken about before. Again, I don’t think Unai Emery is a huge fan of Jhon Duran in terms of the way he conducts himself, so I can believe that Aston Villa are letting him go. Some are surprised that Chelsea believe Duran is a solution to their problems,” Jones said.

Jhon Duran could leave

Duran’s behaviour is something that Unai Emery has seemed to get annoyed with before.

Indeed, while it was a minor incident, Duran did cause a bit of a problem against Brentford earlier this season as he refused to return the ball for a set-piece to be taken and received a dressing down from his captain who told him to keep his focus.

Emery noted some behavioural issues from his squad after that game.

“At the end, some moments, some behaviour, of us as well, I’m going to manage our behaviour and take control of it,” Emery said.

“I will analyse it with our players because it was not normal.

“We were a bit excited and we needed control of ourselves. When you are reacting like that, other players and the other opponent is maybe not being in good behaviour like the match needed.”

Of course, Emery will know Duran’s personality very well from their time together on and off the pitch, and if he isn’t a huge fan of the striker, it’s probably best that he does leave this summer.
