Arteta already told which striker can take Arsenal to 'another level' before Benjamin Sesko snub

Arsenal have this week missed out on the signing of Benjamin Sesko, yet Mikel Arteta has seemingly already been told which striker they should now target instead.

The RB Leipzig attacker committed his future to the Bundesliga side with Arsenal missing out on Sesko, who is now set to stay in Germany this summer despite being heavily linked with a move to the Premier League and north London.

As a result, Arsenal are once again back to square one in their search to find a striker, with options such as Joshua Zirkzee emerging as potential alternatives for the Gunners this summer.

Yet club legend Paul Merson has already suggested who the north London side should move for.

Arsenal already told to move for Newcastle star Alexander Isak

Speaking to Sportskeeda last month, Merson suggested that Alexander Isak could be the striker Arsenal sign in order to take their attacking game to the next level, having already scored 91 league goals this season.

With the Swedish international already linked with a move to Arsenal, Isak could be a dream alternative to Sesko, even with Newcastle fighting to keep the former Real Sociedad star at St. James’ Park.

Merson said back in May: “They need to look to keep their players as teams are going to be sniffing around for Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes.

“They are a massive team, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some of their stars moved on to win trophies. If Arsenal sign a striker like Isak, I think they go to another level.”

Arsenal should take the financial risk and move for Isak

Most of the reports surrounding Isak and Arsenal all come to the same conclusion, that being that the Gunners simply can’t afford to sign the 24-year-old striker this summer.

Yet with the race for Sesko now over, Arsenal face no consequences if they were to move for Isak, a striker who now has the backing for a club legend like Merson, amongst many others.

Indeed, Isak is an ideal fit to lead the line for Arsenal next season, and after his best year yet in the Premier League, the time is now for the Gunners to take the risk and to move for the Sweden international.
