Arsenal transfer stance on Joshua Zirkzee now revealed after Benjamin Sesko setback

Arsenal’s transfer stance on signing Joshua Zirkzee has been reportedly revealed after missing out on Benjamion Sesko.

The Gunners were strongly linked with a move for the RB Leipzig attacker, with Sesko emerging as the most likely striker signing for Arsenal this summer in their bid to add more competition and quality to the forward ranks.

However, news has since broke that Sesko will sign a new contract with Leipzig, with Arsenal now left looking at other options in the market, such as Bologna attacker Zirkzee, who has also been linked with a move to north London.

Arsenal ‘do not intend to pursue’ Zirkzee after Sesko blow

According to the Athletic, Arsenal have no intention of going after Zirkzee despite missing out on Sesko, with the Gunners now likely to pursue other targets in the transfer market.

Zirkzee has been strongly linked with a move to AC Milan in recent weeks, with the Serie A giants likely to activate the 23-year-old’s £34m release clause to bring the former Bayern Munich wonderkid to the San Siro.

As a result, it makes sense why Arsenal could be holding back on moving for Zirkzee, with the north London side now weighing up their options having missed out on Sesko and now seemingly the Bologna talisman.

Indeed, as per the Athletic report, Arsenal might shift their transfer focus to other positions in the squad, and given all that has happened this week, such a decision could be a smart one for the Gunners at this moment in the transfer window.

Arsenal could benefit from more time scouting striker options

Signing a striker is a priority for Arsenal this summer, yet with Sesko and now Zirkzee off the agenda, options are quickly drying up for the north London side to chase in the weeks to come.

Which is why Arsenal could benefit greatly from having more time to scout potential options whilst focusing on other transfer matters, namely signing a midfielder and shipping off unwanted players.

The window isn’t even officially open yet and will not close until the end of August, and whilst the summer can go quickly, Arsenal have more than enough time on their hands to look for the right striker.
