Kylian Mbappe says £27m Arsenal star is now 'among the best' in the Premier League

Kylian Mbappe has said one Arsenal star should now be considered one of the best in the Premier League after this season.

The Gunners enjoyed one of their best league campaigns in some time, having set numerous records and pushed Manchester City for the title until the very last game of the season.

Whilst Arsenal ended up falling short of Pep Guardiola’s side, Mikel Arteta’s side showed a lot in what is potentially to come next year, where the north London side could be favourites for the title if they can sign the right players.

And Mbappe has now said one Arsenal star is one of the best in the division.

William Saliba hailed by Mbappe after sensational year with Arsenal

Speaking to Ouest-France, the France captain was full of praise for William Saliba, who this year enjoyed a record-breaking season with Arsenal in the heart of the defence alongside Gabriel Magalhaes.

Also from Bondy in Paris, Saliba is in contention to start for France at this summer’s Euros, and praise from Mbappe could go a long way in the 23-year-old defender becoming a regular for Les Bleus in the years to come.

Mbappe said on Saliba’s form this year for Arsenal: “This season, he has become a very important player for Arsenal and is among the best centre-backs in the Premier League. He is starting to get minutes with us. It’s now up to him to find his place.

“For me, he has all the qualities to, in time, be a starter with Les Bleus. I look at his journey with the pride of an older brother. There is no taboo between us and we tease each other. For example, I often tell him that he wants to be the star of Bondy, but that it will never happen!”

Saliba’s form in the last two seasons has been nothing short of remarkable, with the £27m signing from Saint-Etienne proving to be one of Arsenal’s best transfer deals in some time given how much the defender has developed.

And this summer, Saliba will want to show the world just how good he now is, with the Arsenal centre-back easily one of the best in the Premier League and by extension all of Europe.

Indeed, Saliba’s place in the France starting XI is far from confirmed, yet given how good the defender was in Les Bleus’ final friendly before the Euros, there’s a real chance that the youngster could be named to face Austria.
