'Dead cert': Journalist shares the signing he has been told Liverpool will definitely make this summer

The summer transfer window officially opens this weekend, and Liverpool are set for a busy summer.

After bringing in a new manager and a new recruitment team, the Reds have plenty of work to do this summer in terms of refreshing their squad.

Of course, there are plenty of rumours doing the rounds about who Liverpool could sign this summer, and speaking on KS1TV, Steve Kay has shared some insight into what he’s been told about Liverpool.

While he wasn’t able to confirm the Reds’ intention to sign Levi Colwill this summer, the journalist noted that a new centre-back will be coming in at Liverpool, claiming that he’s been told a new defensive signing is a certainty this summer.

Liverpool certain to sign a new centre-back

Kay shared that he’d been told Liverpool will definitely sign a centre-back.

“Yeah, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool come back in for him (Colwill). Liverpool are definitely looking for a centre-back. Without a shadow of a doubt, I have been told that is a dead cert. Whether that is Levi I don’t know. They have also been looking at Goncalo Inacio at Sporting who is on their radar as well,” Kay said.

Liverpool need a new centre-back

This is certainly one box that Liverpool need to tick this summer.

Joel Matip has left the club and Joe Gomez is becoming more and more of a full-back, so Arne Slot will need a new centre-back through the door this summer in order to bolster the squad.

Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Jarell Quansah are all very good options, but Liverpool probably do need one more body through the door for a bit of extra depth in that area.

Who this signing ends up being remains to be seen, but it sounds as though the word out of Liverpool is that they will be getting a new centre-back this summer.
