'Almost agreed': After Sesko, Arsenal could be about to miss out on another 'world-class' player - Romano

Arsenal have been dealt a big blow in their pursuit of Benjamin Sesko, and they could soon miss out on another one of their targets too.

The Gunners are expected to be very active in this summer’s transfer window. They need to strengthen their side to go to the next level and pip Manchester City to the title.

Arsenal need reinforcements in multiple positions. A new striker and midfielder are the priorities, while they could do with addictions at left-back and in goal too, especially if Aaron Ramsdale leaves.

Fabrizio Romano has now shared some bad news for Arsenal.

Fabrizio Romano shares update on Arsenal target Wojciech Szczesny’s future

Arsenal fans were treated to the terrible news that Benjamin Sesko will not be joining them this summer.

Romano revealed on X on Tuesday morning that the talented Slovenian striker will stay at RB Leipzig and extend his contract there.

That is a huge blow for Arsenal as many reports had claimed that the Gunners were the favourites to sign Sesko in this summer’s transfer window.

If that wasn’t bad news enough, Romano revealed that another player linked with a move to Arsenal now has different plans for his future – Wojciech Szczesny.

The North Londoners were said to be interested in a move to re-sign the Pole this summer, seven years after he left the club to join Juventus.

With Ramsdale’s future up in the air, reports claimed that Arsenal want to bring Szczesny back to the Emirates, but that doesn’t look likely now.

Romano has revealed that the ‘world-class‘ Szczesny is in advanced negotiations with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr over a permanent move this summer.

The journalist tweeted: “Wojciech Szczesny’s move to Al Nassr, now advancing to final stages after exclusive story revealed on Sunday.

“Two-year contract almost agreed, final details to be clarified and then green light expected soon. Juve, set to receive around €5m and will save his salary.”

Arsenal could make surprise decision to solve goalkeeper issue

Arsenal have two top-quality goalkeepers at the helm right now – David Raya and Ramsdale.

The Englishman has dropped down the pecking order, which is why he has been heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer.

However, the two clubs who were said to be interested in him the most – Newcastle United and Chelsea – seem to have other plans.

Newcastle are pushing to sign James Trafford, while new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is said to be a fan of Robert Sanchez and is ready to start the season with him in goal.

As things stand, no other top club has been linked with a move to sign Ramsdale. It is extremely unlikely that any club would be ready to meet Arsenal’s £50 million valuation.

So, in a surprising turn of events, we won’t be surprised at all if Arsenal decide to keep hold of Ramsdale as their number two, at least until the next transfer window.

That, for the time being, would solve the goalkeeping issue at Arsenal.
