Report: PL director is urging his club to sign 'sensational' Nottingham Forest player this summer

Arsenal director Edu Gaspar is now pushing the Gunners to sign one of Nottingham Forest’s most exciting players this summer.

Forest fans will be all to aware of what needs to be done this month in order for the club to avoid any PSR breaches going into the new campaign.

As is the case with other Premier League clubs, Forest need to generate some revenue this month by offloading some of their players.

Only £20m is expected to be needed before the end of the month which may provide fans some optimism over the future of their top talents.

But it seems as if Forest are actually going to have a battle on their hands in keeping some of their top players who could bring in some significant money to the club with Arsenal keen on one specifically.

Arsenal pushing to land Forest player who only signed last summer

A number of Forest’s better performers from the 2023/24 campaign are now receiving interest from other clubs this summer.

Morgan Gibbs-White is one of those players with Tottenham Hotspur having already been credited with an interest.

One thing which is certain, though, is Forest will not be allowing this calibre of player to leave for cheap this summer with both Gibbs-White and Murillo valued in excess of £50m.

Having allowed Brennan Johnson to leave last summer in a big-money deal, the Welshman’s departure has set the benchmark for Evangelos Marinakis this summer.

According to journalist Chris Wheatley, Arsenal’s sporting director Edu is a big fan of Murillo and is pushing the north London club’s interest in the Brazilian.

“The Nottingham Forest defender, Murillo, he’s attracted a lot of interest,” Wheatley said.

“Of course, he had an amazing first season at Forest, plucked from Corinthians. And he’s really caught a lot of attention from teams across the Premier League. Tottenham, as well, really like him. I think it’s more Edu at Arsenal that likes Murillo than Arteta.”

Murillo seriously impressed in his first season at Forest

Having only signed last summer from Corinthians, Murillo has not wasted any time in becoming a mainstay in the Forest side.

Nuno Espirito Santo has certainly been impressed with what he has seen from the 21-year-old defender who started all 21 league games under the Portuguese manager.

Former Forest midfielder Jermaine Jenas has also been impressed with what he has seen from the centre-back in his first campaign in England.

“Defensively in particular, Murillo was absolutely sensational, and at the other end of the pitch, it was Callum Hudson-Odoi that shone. He did kind of stand out for me, Murillo, in the game today,” he said following the victory over Sheffield United.
