'There is a possibility': £26m attacker could leave after being linked with West Ham - journalist

Ben Jacobs has said there is a ‘possibility’ a £26m attacker could leave this summer after being linked with a move to West Ham United.

Julen Lopetegui has wasted no time in getting to work at West Ham with Luis Guilherme confirmed as his first signing.

The Hammers have been linked with a whole host of players with many of them being wide players – which is clearly an area the former Wolves boss has identified as a weakness.

Now, it has just come to light, that one of their targets could leave this summer.

Matias Soule could leave Juventus amid West Ham interest

West Ham are interested in signing Juventus winger Matias Soule, though, they face competition from Aston Villa.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a stellar campaign on loan at Serie A outfit Frosinone last term, netting 11 times whilst laying on three assists.

Such form had led many to wonder if Juve will even let him go this summer and now Ben Jacobs has admitted that it’s a real possibility.

“I think there is a possibility for sure but there may be problematic elements to it which make it difficult within the coming weeks,” Jacobs said on Nick Semeraro’s X space.

“We have to understand this is an early stage of the window and therefore things may not move in the next few days.

“He’s only 21, top young talent, West Ham have historically been the club who have looked at him. From the player’s point of view, he has had that loan spell at Frosinone.

“From what I understand from Juventus’s point of view a sale might be a possibility but a lot of the links to the Premier League clubs are a little premature at this stage.”

Matias Soule statistics

Soule’s FBref statistics make for very impressive reading indeed.

The Argentina youth international ranks in the top 10 per cent for successful take-ons per 90 compared to his positional peers across Europe, evincing his terrific dribbling ability.

Further, he sits in the top 10 per cent for shot-creating actions, amplifying how proficient his playmaking skillset is.

If West Ham can tempt Juventus into a sale, he’d be a very exciting signing.
