'Limited': Danny Rose recently said that new £49k-a-week Leeds target struggles to score goals

Leeds United have been linked with an ambitious move to reunite manager Daniel Farke with a Tottenham Hotspur player but Danny Rose recently described the player as “limited”.

Leeds and Spurs of course have an excellent relationship. It started with Jack Clarke’s move to Spurs back in the summer of 2019 and the now-Sunderland star rejoining on loan for part of the 2019-20 season.

Gretar Steinsson has joined from Spurs as part of a new transfer department. Leeds saw that Victor Orta had too much power and went in a different direction, developing a team instead of a one-man show.

Steinsson’s move to Leeds saw the club pull off loan deals for Joe Rodon and Djed Spence. The former worked, the latter didn’t and Spence has since impressed on loan with Genoa and could join permanently.

Talks will be ongoing with Tottenham over a move for Rodon but there is another Spurs player that Leeds could try to sign this summer, and it would see Farke reunite with the midfielder at Elland Road.

Indeed, reports on Thursday claimed that Leeds are keen on signing Oliver Skipp. A player that Farke had on loan during the 2020-21 season in which he gained promotion with Norwich for a second time.

Skipp played every Championship match for Farke that season and has since become a regular part of the Tottenham squad. Leeds are interested in an ambitious move but Rose is not a huge fan of the midfielder.

The former Leeds academy product who went on to become an England star while at Tottenham gave his verdict on Skipp in the 2023-24 campaign, suggesting the England U21 international struggles to score.

He told TalkSPORT, as per TBRFootball: “The last couple of years I know they’ve had pretty steady midfield in [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg and [Oliver] Skipp. For me, they’re good players but they’re a little bit limited.

“You know, you need your midfielders to be chipping in with five to ten goals a season and I didn’t think, Hojbjerg and Skipp could do that,” Rose said about £49k-a-week Skipp back in August of last year.

What Daniel Farke has said about Skipp in the past…

Speaking about the new Leeds target during the season in which Farke and Skipp combined at Norwich, the now-Leeds manager highlighted his incredible game time during the 2020-21 Championship season.

Farke told the East Anglian Daily Press: “My actions speak louder than my words. He plays each and every second for more or less each and every game for such a good side. A top player and also a top character.”
