WATCH: LSU QB prospects at Elite Camp

Dia Bell

LSU’s Elite Camp was an excellent opportunity to see some of the top players in the classes of 2025, 2026, and 2027 take the field in Baton Rouge and compete. Here, we’re focusing on the play of the top two quarterbacks in attendance with video from several of their throws on the day.

2026 Dia Bell

Five-star, No. 14 prospect, No. 4 QB on On3 Industry Rankings, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Bell had a solid day throwing in front of LSU offensive coordinator and QBs coach Joe Sloan on Thursday. He got most of the first team reps and a lot of opportunities to show what makes him a top talent. The ball-placement was certainly there and Sloan continued to give him tips on his delivery throughout the day.

Sloan has spearheaded Bell’s recruitment, and an offer came on February 10. Bell has already visited LSU multiple times over the past year, and over the past two weeks he’s made campus trips to Texas, Ohio State and Florida State.

“I loved getting to see the coaches again and meet the amazing people around the program,” Bell told On3 in the spring. “Being able to watch how they coach during practice was great. I also really enjoyed sitting with the quarterback staff and having (Sloan) tell me how he teaches and corrects his guys on film. They put a ton of resources into developing their QBs. It was great to see and understand that development plan.

“I was able to have a couple meetings with Coach Sloan. He showed me how he would go in-depth and break down film with his quarterbacks. He thinks I would fit well in what they do.”

2027 Malachi Zeigler

6-foot-3 QB from Benton, Louisiana.

Zeigler is a two-sport athlete, showing enticing potential in both football and baseball as a young prospect out of Benton High School. Zeigler’s arm was on full display on Thursday evening, rifling long balls into the pocket and showing enough touch on short-to-intermediate throws to keep the chains moving. His base and overall footwork were good for a player so young and show real development potential. He did have some “sacks” for holding the ball too long and had to force some throws, but overall it was a great day for Zeigler. Joe Sloan was very hands on with him and clearly sees the potential from the Louisiana QB prospect.

At the moment, Ole Miss has shown the most interest, getting him on campus for a visit a couple of weeks ago, but Oklahoma State, Mississippi State, and Grambling have all offered as well. If thursday was any indication, he will be a player Sloan and LSU will keep close tabs on in the coming season as he continues to develop.
