Watch Celtic talent show striking instincts to net seventh goal in ten matches

Most Celtic loanees have returned to the club ahead of pre-season and will be excited at the chance to impress Brendan Rodgers.

Nevertheless, there are one or two still out featuring for clubs due to the alternative order the campaign takes in certain countries.

Johnny Kenny falls into that bracket, and it is fair to say the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has excelled in his second spell at Shamrock Rovers, to the point their manager Stephen Bradley has joked that he will be chaining him to the gates at Tallaght Stadium to keep him around.

He stated: “This year he’s been a different animal, in training, his mentality around the place and on the pitch, when he’s like he is at the moment you wouldn’t like to play against him, he has a bit of everything.”

Later on, he added when asked about the prospect of Celtic recalling Kenny: “He’s here, I will be chaining him to the gates.”

Unsurprisingly, he has now found the back of the net once again as he continues his impressive time back on the Emerald Isle.

Watch Johnny Kenny’s expert finish for Shamrock Rovers

Last night, Shamrock Rovers travelled to local rivals St Patrick’s Athletic; however, they were dealt a major blow after Brandon Kavanagh’s 96th-minute winner gave the hosts all three points at Richmond Park.

Despite that, from a personal point of view, Kenny opened the scoring after showing some expert instincts to open the scoring, swivelling on the ball before firing a low strike past Danny Rogers, as can be seen below.

Per Transfermarkt, Kenny has now scored seven goals in his last ten appearances for the reigning League of Ireland champions, making the 21-year-old and intriguing player to keep an eye on for the future at Parkhead.

With two years on his contract at Parkhead, it will be interesting to see where his future lies long-term under Brendan Rodgers.

Either way, it is refreshing to see a Celtic youngster make strides away from the club, showcasing the wider value of the loan system and the benefit of regular minutes.
