European club announces departure of manager who's currently linked with Leicester City

A Leicester City linked manager has left his current club as the Foxes search for their new manager ahead of the Premier League season.

After returning Leicester City to the Premier League last campaign, Enzo Maresca snapped up the management job at Chelsea, leaving the Foxes with a void to fill ahead of the new campaign.

Maresca guided Leicester to a promotion that was far from easy, despite finishing on an impressive 97 points and holding the best defensive record in the division.

It’s now been 11 days since Pep Guardiola’s former assistant moved on, but interest in the 44-year-old dated long before the departure date.

With the Italian now gone, Leicester City have looked to aim high in their managerial search, shortlisting coaches with Champions League experience, one of which has just left his current club.

Leicester City manager target Edin Terzic leaves Borussia Dortmund

It was announced on Thursday that Terzic had left his role with the German giants following a Champions League final appearance, where they were beaten by Real Madrid.

Terzic gave no clues on whether he was taking a break in management, with Leicester City reportedly keen on hiring the 41-year-old as a replacement for Maresca.

Should Leicester City go all out to hire Edin Terzic as manager

Last season’s heroics with Borussia Dortmund speak for themselves when considering Terzic for the top job.

He had to knock out fierce competition in PSG and Atletico Madrid to reach the final at Wembley Stadium, where they gave a good account of themselves against Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Despite these successes, Dortmund struggled in the Bundesliga, finishing in 5th place, 27 points off Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the table.

Also the German coach’s lack of experience in English football may speak volumes, with Leicester needing consolidation in the Premier League as a bare minimum in the next campaign.

Terzic’s experience in the English game comes in the form of two seasons as West Ham’s assistant manager back in 2015.

League form aside, Terzic has the ability to make miracles happen at the King Power Stadium, as shown from him competing with Europe’s elite this campaign.

This appointment will spell that the Foxes are looking to return to the Premier League in style.
