Man arrested following a gas main being damaged by a car in Diss

A man has been arrested following an incident which saw a car hit a gas main in Diss yesterday.

Officers from Norfolk Police were called just after 4pm to reports a car had struck a house and damaged a gas meter in Willbye Avenue.

Officers and fire crews from Diss and Harleston attended the incident, and found the driver had left but a damaged car was found nearby.

Further inquiries revealed details of an altercation prior to the collision and a man in his 20s and from the Diss area was subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, assault, criminal damage, and failing to stop.

He was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning where he remains.

One man suffered a minor injury during the incident which did not require hospital treatment.
