Celtic tracking impressive Scottish Premiership midfielder with one year left on his deal

The transfer window is open and Celtic are keen to bolster the squad this summer by completing several acquisitions.

Brendan Rodgers has plenty to ponder ahead of pre-season, with the goalkeeper situation a priority amid links to Newcastle United’s Martin Dubravka and Sparta Prague stopper Peter Vindahl Jensen.

In midfield, Paulo Bernardo remains a target as the Bhoys looks to seal a permanent deal for the Portugal Under-21 international; meanwhile, evaluating potential attacking arrivals, Adam Idah is in the same boat, though coming to an agreement with Norwich City for his services could be complicated.

Either way, there is set to be plenty of activity on the transfer front as the club prepare to compete on all fronts in 2024/25.

Now, reports have emerged claiming that Celtic could look to the domestic scene to bolster the engine room.

His contract is set to expire in 2025, and he would count towards Celtic’s homegrown quota in European competitions in the event he does move to Parkhead.

Per Fotmob, the Greenock-born man created 59 chances in 2023/24 alongside 34 successful dribbles and 965 successful passes on league duty, becoming a standout for Dundee as they secured a top-six Scottish Premiership finish.

There is no mention of the fee Celtic would need to pay to land the versatile midfielder; regardless, it is an intriguing story, and it will be interesting to see if it develops in the coming weeks.
