Germany is one of the leading European suppliers of military aid to Ukraine. The country has provided the Ukrainian Armed Forces with various models of Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 tanks, IRIS-T and Patriot air defense systems, MARS II multiple launch rocket systems, Marder infantry fighting vehicles, Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, as well as a significant amount of armored vehicles and other equipment.

Reuters, citing its sources, reported on May 21 that Germany plans to increase its military aid spending for Ukraine by EUR 3.8 billion ($4 billion) over the course of 2024.

Germany delivered a new military aid package to Ukraine on May 24, which included 10 Leopard 1A5 tanks, a Bergepanzer 2 ARV recovery vehicle, 16 Mercedes-Benz Zetros trucks, and ammunition.
