Saudi Arabian Chiefs now restart talks with £45m Arsenal ace ahead of potential summer exit

Arsenal look set to sell several senior players this summer to upgrade the quality of the squad, and one player could be heading to Saudi Arabia.

With Arsenal looking for a new midfielder, Thomas Partey could be heading for the exit door. The 31-year-old has one year remaining on his sizeable contract, and after another injury stricken campaign, Mikel Arteta wants to move on from him despite his quality.

It remains to be seen what kind of market there will be for Partey, as Turkish and Saudi Arabian clubs have expressed an interest, but no offer has been formalised for him.

However, Arsenal will hope to recoup some of the £45m they spent to bring him in from Atletico Madrid in 2020, and they may be in luck as Saudi Arabian Chiefs from PIF (Public Investment Fund) have now discussed a move.

Saudi Arabian Chiefs discuss move for Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey

TEAMTALK have now reported that PIF have now contacted Partey to try and agree personal terms over a move this summer.

Partey is reportedly open to leaving Arsenal in favour of a new experience this summer, and after a move away fell through last year, it seems that he is now ready to depart after four years at the club.

There is currently no contact between Saudi clubs and Arsenal, but if they can agree terms for Partey to join one of PIF’s clubs, then they are expected to make a formal offer.

When fit and at his best, Partey offers a lot to Mikel Arteta’s squad. However, he can no longer rely on him to stay fit, and with just one year left on his deal and no signs of an extension, a sale now would be beneficial.

Getting Partey’s wages off the books will help make space for a new midfielder to come in, and an option who can make an impact now and in the long-term will be ideal.

Partey was sensational during the 2022-23 season, but his injuries have taken their toll, and moving on will be the best outcome for the player and the club.

Martin Zubimendi is among the targets to replace him, but it remains to be seen whether he will be keen on leaving Real Sociedad this summer.
