Leicester City are reportedly interested in a Juventus youngster, who has been given a €40million price tag.
Leicester City finished on an impressive 97 points, handing them the Championship title last season, but they won’t just be looking to avoid relegation next season in the Premier League.
The Foxes are currently without a manager after Enzo Maresca took the job at Chelsea, however this hasn’t stopped the Foxes from getting involved in the transfer window following their promotion from the Championship.
Veteran Jamie Vardy has already been tied down to a new contract to keep him at the club for the 2024/25 season, as well as triggering the option to sign winger Issahaku Fatawu from Sporting Lisbon.
Now, Leicester City have their eyes set on a young Juventus and Argentinian right-winger, who set Serie A alight this season.
Leicester City interested in Matias Soule at Juventus
The 21-year-old was loaned to Italian club Frosinone, where he was unfortunate to suffer relegation. Despite this, the Argentinian scored 11 goals, whilst also contributing three assists.
Soule has primarily been utilised on the right wing, cutting in on his favoured left foot, although the latter stages of the season saw him play centrally.
Tuttosport reports that Leicester have met with the player’s representatives. They have also said that Juve may be willing to allow him to depart the team to free up transfer funds, with the asking price reportedly in the region of €40million (£33.75million).
Soule’s brilliant performances and finishing as Frosinone’s top scorer has piqued the interest of Premier League clubs West Ham and Crystal Palace, who the Foxes may have to fight for the youngster’s signature.
Would Matias Soule be a good signing for Leicester City
With most players, one full season of first team football would not be enough to dictate whether they warrant a big asking price, however Soule at that price could be a gift.
Any player reaching the double-digits in goals in Serie A clearly has quality that could make a difference for a recently promoted side into the Premier League, but the fact that he is just 21-years-old shows that he could become something special.
Soule can do it all, from playmaking to running at the defence. He has the pace to cause defenders serious issues no matter what level he plays at.
Leicester could also benefit with some competition to continue in bringing the best out of winger Fatawu, who tallied 19 goal contributions for the Foxes last season.
It will be a difficult task for Leicester to tempt in Soule with many clubs interested in the youngster, and with the FFP restrictions looming over the Foxes.
But his abilities and high ceiling should make him paramount in the priority of signings.
