With this decision, Mummau’s one and only season as a freshman at Florida has come to an end. He had been committed to the program since back in December of 2019. However, he will now be looking for a new team to compete for as a sophomore.

Mummau is a native of Palm Harbor, Florida. He attended Dunedin High School as a senior after previously attending Palm Harbor University High School.

Rob Mummau, his father, also has connections to baseball at the professional level. He spent eight years with the Toronto Blue Jays before now working as a scout for the Seattle Mariners.

Again, this development has taken place just over 24 hours before the Gators take the diamond at the MCWS from Charles Schwab Field. They will meet a conference foe in that matchup in Texas A&M, the No. 3 overall seed in the bracket, before facing one of No. 2 Kentucky or No. 10 NC State on Monday.

Betting odds released for Texas A&M vs. Florida in opener at College World Series

The odds are in for Texas A&M and Florida’s opening matchup in the 2024 College World Series.

Per Draft Kings, Texas A&M is a (-195) favorite to win. In comparison, Florida is a +150 underdog.

Texas A&M didn’t earn Las Vegas’ favor by accident. The Aggies are 49-13 this season and boast a 5-0 record in the NCAA Tournament. Most recently, Texas A&M defeated Oregon in back-to-back games to secure a spot in the CWS for the second time in the past three years.

Despite the odds, Texas A&M went 1-2 against Florida earlier this season when the two teams met. The series was extremely close, with each team scoring 18 runs between their three games.

Florida will look to shatter Texas A&M’s calm demeanor again and it has the talent to do so. Despite finishing the regular season with a 13-17 record in conference play, the Gators have been red-hot down the stretch. The team is 5-1 in the NCAA Tournament and stunningly swept Clemson on the road in the Super Regionals.

On Saturday, Texas A&M and Florida will face off at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
