'If I was a GM'... Former NFL player has contract take CeeDee Lamb really won't like

The Dallas Cowboys have been sucked into a contractual offseason nightmare with three three cornerstone players all wanting to be paid and at the top end of the market.

Despite knowing he is set to have the second biggest cap hit in the NFL, Jerry Jones has delayed the signing of Dak Prescott.

Fellow teammates CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons are approaching the conclusion of their rookie contracts and their futures must be tied down swiftly.

Lamb is the next in line for a contract extension with Justin Jefferson resetting the market

Lamb is one year further along on his rookie deal compared to Parsons and the priority could lie with him.

Moreover, Justin Jefferson signed a four-year $140 million contract extension with the Minnesota Vikings to send seismic waves through the NFL.

Jefferson and Lamb were in the same draft class back in 2020, therefore the latter will be hunting a deal of similar magnitude.

The 25-year-old has refused to participate in the Dallas Cowboys’ offseason program to leverage a new deal.

However, the front office is spinning plates deciding who to reward with extensions, Parsons, Lamb, or Prescott?

Darius Butler shares his verdict on who should miss out on an extension

Former NFL player Darius Butler spoke about the dilemma the Cowboys face and who he would prioritize.

On the Up&Adams Show, Butler said: “Dak and Micah [I would sign]. I love CeeDee but if I was a GM, I would not prioritize putting money in a wide receiver position over a pass rusher or a quarterback.”

Butler spent nine seasons as a defensive back for the Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, and the Indianapolis Colts.

In his NFL opinion, Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons should be in the queue for an extension before Lamb.

Jerry Jones failed to clear cap space with a Dak Prescott extension in February

Jerry Jones has missed the golden opportunity to extend the signal-caller, with the time being before free agency.

Therefore, Cowboy Nation could assume that the franchise is set to prioritize the two players on rookie contracts.

The markets for all the positions are becoming more expensive the longer the franchise chooses to wait.

Ultimately, the Cowboys’ approach to key deals has received backlash from the media.
