NFL expert encourages star player to 'cut off all communications' with the Dallas Cowboys

Dak Prescott is on the hunt for a potential record-breaking contract with the Dallas Cowboys but one expert has encouraged a radical approach to the negotiation.

The Dallas Cowboys have found themselves in a sticky situation, do they grant Dak Prescott a multi-million dollar extension or not?

Jerry Jones has been aware of the situation since 2022 but has still not found a solution.

Prescott is entering his ninth season with the Cowboys and is approaching a contract year as the MVP runner-up.

Moreover, the 30-year-old has seen Kirk Cousins, Jared Goff, and Trevor Lawrence receive lucrative paydays, and he would argue that he is better than all of them.

Dak Prescott has better stats than Patrick Mahomes in certain QB categories, he’s has a better passer rating

In fact, Prescott has comparable stats to three-time Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes throughout their last 50 starts.

However, Mahomes has the success in the playoffs that the Dallas Cowboys have been starved of.

Owner Jerry Jones is exhausted with the lack of postseason success and Prescott could be left to play out his deal.

The media consensus is that the three-time Pro Bowler must reach the NFC Championship to twist Jones’ arm for a new deal.

Prescott has claimed he is not bothered about the money and has been happy during the offseason program.

NFL expert believes Dak Prescott should ‘see what’s out there’ in 2025 and not sign an extension in Dallas

NFL expert Craig Carton had some strong advice for Dak Prescott and his representatives in their contract approach with the front office.

“If I’m Dak Prescott, I’d cut off all communications with the Dallas Cowboys from a negotiating standpoint. I’ll show respect to the Jones family and the organization, but I’m not discussing a new contract because I don’t want one” he said on the Craig Carton Show.

“I’m gonna go out there and win 12 games and throw for 4,000 yards, and throw 30 touchdowns, and throw single-digits in interceptions again, then I’m gonna see what’s out there.”

Carton believes Prescott should not seek a new contract with America’s Team and should bide his time.

The price for Dak Prescott continues to rise with signal-callers raising the marker around the league

Each year, the QB market continues to rise and Prescott could be in for a bigger contract if he waits in the offseason.

Furthermore, built within his contract are no trade or tag clauses, so, Prescott will enter 2025 free agency as an unrestricted free agent.

Therefore, potential franchises like the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants will be bidding against each other for his signature.

Ultimately, if Prescott excels in 2024 and delivers an NFC Championship or more, Jerry Jones will have no choice but to pull out the checkbook.

The Louisana native is participating in a waiting game and the longer it drags out the more expensive the final price will be.
