'He improved': Argentinian media reacts to Alexis Mac Allister's display for Argentina v Guatemala

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is one of a number of Reds playing international football this week.

The Euros might be getting underway over here in Europe but down in South America, teams are preparing for the Copa America as well.

As always, Argentina are one of the favourites for the tournament as Leo Messi looks to lead his side to another international trophy after winning the World Cup in 2022.

For Argentina, their squad is full of talent and they host a number of players from England in there too.

One of whom is Liverpool star Mac Allister.

And after playing just over an hour last night against Guatemala, the Argentinian media have given their verdict on his display.

What Argentina’s media said about Alexis Mac Allister v Guatemala

The Liverpool star was given the nod in central midfield and impressed once again.

Argentinian outlet TYC Sports gave the Reds midfielder a seven out of ten, commenting the following on his performance:

“He was the team’s central midfielder, trying to press high to keep the team short and away from Dibu. He improved in the complement in terms of accuracy and incidence in possession,” they wrote.

Argentina saw off Guatemala 4-1, with braces apiece from both Lautaro Martinez and Lionel Messi doing the business.

Mac Allister continues to shine

It shouldn’t surprise any Liverpool fans to see Mac Allister continuing to be a key cog for Argentina.

The former Brighton man was outstanding in his first season at Anfield and he is clearly one of the key men among this Argentina side as well.

It’s quite amazing that the Reds paid only £35m for him when you think about it.

We see players move all the time for enormous fees and in modern football, that is a relatively modest amount to splash out.

Mac Allister, then, just continues to impress.
