Report: Manchester City have now set their price tag for exit-linked player

Manchester City have reportedly set their price tag for one player who has been linked with a move away from the club recently.

Over the past few years, the Manchester club have shown that they aren’t against selling their players if suitable offers come their way.

For example, the Blues have cashed in on players such as Riyad Mahrez, Aymeric Laporte and Cole Palmer among others in recent memory.

Now that another summer transfer window has opened, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding another player the Premier League champions could sell.

Man City set price tag for Sergio Gomez amid Real Sociedad links

A recent report from Mundo Deportivo has claimed that City want €15m (£12m) to sell Sergio Gomez to Real Sociedad, who Fabrizio Romano recently claimed on his official X account are in talks to sign the City player.

This latest report also claims that the Spanish club are not willing to pay this amount and will instead look at other ways to land the defender’s signature this summer.

City shouldn’t look to take a loss on Gomez

City paid £11m to sign the Spaniard from Anderlecht back in the 2022 summer transfer window.

Since then, the full-back has only featured in 38 games across all competitions, 14 of which he’s started.

In fact, looking back over the most recent Premier League campaign, the defender only featured in six matches, playing just 48 minutes of action.

Even though Gomez has not been a prominent figure in Pep Guardiola’s side since his arrival, it’s understandable why City would want to get roughly the same amount of money they paid for him to sell him this summer.

In our view, while it would be ideal for Gomez to join a side where he’d be able to play regularly, City should only consider letting the player leave for a fee they feel is suitable.
