"Big comparison there": Pundit says Michael Olise is lacking one thing which made Arjen Robben world-class

Michael Olise is quickly becoming one of the best right-wingers in world football and now the Crystal Palace ace has been compared to Arjen Robben.

After an injury-plagued but successful campaign for Michael Olise and Crystal Palace, the 22-year-old winger has become the hottest commodity of this summer’s transfer window.

The 10-goal forward has become one of the top targets for both Chelsea and Manchester United this summer, with the former potentially willing to give the Eagles some players as well as a chunk of cash.

But now he’s been discussed and compared with former Bayern Munich and Real Madrid superstar Arjen Robben, although he lacks one thing the legendary Dutchman had.

Tony Cascarino compares Michael Olise with Arjen Robben, but he’s lacking one thing

Speaking on TalkSPORT on Sunday morning, former Premier League striker Tony Cascarino was discussing Olise and his ability, which has impressed some of Europe’s elite during this past season.

“He signed a new deal, didn’t he, last year? It doesn’t mean that much. He had quite a number of injuries last year. At his very best, he is a fabulous talent.

“He has got that skill when he wants to get on his left foot, and he is versatile, he can play in a number of positions, I feel, but when he wants to get on his left foot, even though you know he is trying to do it, he can still do something special.”

Cascarino then launched into the Robben comparison, however, while doing so he added that Olise is lacking one thing Robben had.

“He has got that Arjen Robben sort of scenario, the one where we think he is going on his left foot, he is going on his left foot, and he is still on his left foot and he sticks it into the top corner. Olise can do that.

“Obviously, there is a big comparison there. Not as quick as someone like Robben, but great touch. He could play that number 10 role.”

Olise makes doing that Arjen Robben special look easy

Robben used his pace to devastating effect during his career but it wasn’t his only quality, with his want of a left foot also being key to everything he did well.

It was almost a given that when Robben cut inside on his left foot, he’d find the far corner in unstoppable fashion.

It’s this which closely resembles Olise, with the Frenchman having a similar inevitability of late, with his left foot being deadly.

The best example as above came against Luton Town where Olise bagged a true wondergoal and one of the goals of the season, cutting inside and leaving the Luton keeper zero chance.
