New South Carolina special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis is starting to put his own stamp on the program.
DeCamillis and the Gamecocks added a verbal commitment Saturday from Gallatin (Tenn.) kicker Max Kelley, one of the top kicker prospects in the country.
The pledge comes just over one month since Kelley landed a scholarship offer from South Carolina.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder also had an offer from Tennessee.
Kelley is ranked the No. 14 kicker and No. 36 punter in the country, according to Kohl’s Kicking, the premier kicker ranking service in the country.
Said Kohl’s:
Kelley competed at the Underclassman Challenge and scored 118.98 points on kick offs, 12 points on field goals, and 103.27 points in punting. Kelley showcased huge leg strength on his kick offs. He also attended a Showcase Camp in the winter of 2023. He scored 5 points on field goals, 110.5 points on kick offs, and 101.5 points in punting. His best punt traveled 51 yards and had 4.5 seconds of hang-time. Kelley had a dominant performance at the 2023 Kohl’s National Scholarship Camp. He was excellent in his field goal charting and scored a combine 21 points at camp. He charted a big ball of 73 yards with 3.66 seconds of hang time. His overall kickoff score was 105.40 on kickoffs.

Kelley is the 13th public commitment in the 2025 class and seventh prospect to go public with a pledge this week. The Gamecocks also have two silent commits that have yet to go public.
