Rapid Reaction: Kentucky tops NC State in dramatic fashion at College World Series

The College World series got started on Friday with two walk-off victories for North Carolina and Tennessee thanks to late offensive heroics. Kentucky decided to continue that trend on Saturday afternoon but made us all wait an extra inning.

After Ryan Nicholson’s solo blast in the ninth tied the game, we got free baseball in Omaha. Johnny Hummel retired the side in the top of the 10th to set the stage for Mitchell Daly with two outs in the bottom of the extra frame. A hanging breaking ball then ended up in the Kentucky bullpen in left field.

The Big Blue Nation rode a roller coaster of emotions throughout the afternoon. KSR’s Daniel Hager and Steven Peake jumped in front of the camera after the big win in Omaha to discuss how we got to the finish line. Kentucky refused to lose.
