What the Celtic fans are saying about the club's message to CM Punk after WWE drama

WWE is never really mentioned a lot on 67 Hail Hail but after CM Punk’s Celtic antics over the weekend, it’s given the Celtic fans plenty to say.

We discussed yesterday how the WWE legend cost Rangers supporting wrestler, Drew McIntyre, his chance of winning the World Heavyweight Championship match against reiging champion Drew Priest at the Hydro in the Clash At The Castle title match.

CM Punk intervened disguised as a referee just as McIntyre was about to pin Priest and win the title. This then allowed the current champion to defeat his challenger and retain the belt.

And in a class social media post, Celtic thanked CM Punk for his part in McIntyre’s failure to win the title and it had all the Hoops support talking.

Celtic fans laud ‘tremendous’ social media post

WWE is clearly a popular sport all over the world but with McIntyre’s connection to Rangers, it made Celtic’s social media post, and team, very popular amongst the Hoops support.

Another Celtic fan very cleverly emulated the original post by simply writing, “Celtic, Thank you 💚”

As we all know, social media is a place where fans all look to get one upmanship on each other. And this Celtic fan was impressed with the Parkhead social media team’s trolling of the Rangers supporting wrestler.

Another Celtic fan wants CM Punk to be a guest of honour at next season’s Flag Day after replying, “My admin!!!! Surely CM Punk to raise the flag 1st game of the season… make it happen Bhoys.”

CM Punk’s stunt of disguising himself as a referee went down a storm at the Hydro but the Celtic fans think he made a costume error and should have worn a different top instead:

And in reference to Celtic’s dominance over Rangers in the league and Scottish Cup, one fan replied, “Celtic own the Rangers again.”

The tweet by Celtic gained traction from all over the world with over 1.2m views as the WWE community also flocked to the post to congratulate the club on their quick thinking and witty post.

Now I’ll happily admit that I’m no fan of WWE wrestling but CM Punk has just earned himself a new follower, as many Celtic fans probably have also done now, on X after showing his love for the club this weekend.
