Robinson-O’Hagan’s hammer didn’t win a title but it was the best-ever toss by an Ole Miss Rebel

Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan, Ole Miss' two-time title-winner in the shot put

Two weeks ago Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan secured his second shot-put title (and the first-ever for Ole Miss in outdoors competition) in less than a year.

But not to be forgotten was his hammer throw on the final day of competition at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Robinson-O’Hagan uncorked an Ole-Miss-record (and personal best) toss of 72.81m/238-10 to finish seventh — the best by a Rebel in school history. He was named first-team All-American. Robinson-O’Hagan also became the third NCAA male since 2015 to break 72 meters in the hammer and 20 in the shot put.

“Competition is competition,” Robinson-O’Hagan said. “I’m not scared of anyone. Nobody makes me nervous.”

Robinson-O’Hagan emerged as the 17th individual in D-l history to sweep (indoors and outdoors) in the same season.

“My legs were pretty dead, and I still hit that last throw,” Robinson-O’Hagan said. “That’s just from no one being ahead of me and having the free throw. You always hit a free throw.”

He’s the youngest since 1989 and one of four in history to sweep at 20-years-old or younger. His hammer can be seen in its entirety in the included video provided by Ole Miss Sports Production.
