Mikel Arteta should be keeping a close eye on 'special' £60m Arsenal target during Euro 2024 - opinion

Mikel Arteta should be keeping a close eye on a ‘special’ £60m-rated Arsenal target during Euro 2024.

Arteta and Edu will be hard at work behind the scenes identifying and beginning negotiations with a number of targets now that the transfer window is open.

The Gunners need perhaps two or three quality additions to bridge the gap on the reigning champions Manchester City.

That said, the Spanish head coach should be keeping tabs on a rumoured target during Euro 2024.

Mikel Arteta should be keeping tabs on Georgiy Sudakov

Arteta will be rooting for Spain at Euro 2024 but will also have a close eye on a number of potential Arsenal targets, one being Georgiy Sudakov.

The 17-cap Ukraine international has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent weeks and has a £60m valuation.

Sudakov plies his trade at club level with Shakhtar Donetsk and netted 10 times whilst laying on six assists last term.

The ‘special’ 2002-born operates as a number eight, a number 10 and as a left-midfielder, evincing his terrific versatility – a trait Arteta is very keen on.

Ukraine have a good chance of progressing

Arteta will have the chance to watch Sudakov on Monday afternoon when Ukraine face Romania at the Allianz Arena.

The 21-year-old is next in action against Slovakia and then Belgium, all of which are very winnable games for the 22-ranked nation.

There is every chance Ukraine could advance out of the group, so Edu and Arteta will have plenty of footage to analyse.

They’ll need to move quickly on his signature, though, in the event he stars for his country, thus prompting a number of potential suitors to the negotiating table with Donetsk.
