Report: Liverpool ready to bid £38m for 'sensational' midfielder after he upset his current club

The transfer window is open and Liverpool are now preparing to launch one of their first bids of the summer.

The Reds are officially in theArne Slot era and new players will be high on the agenda of the new manager.

Liverpool have already been linked with a host of new players and as exclusively reported on TBR Football this morning, Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt is on their radar.

And now, according to reports from Italy, the Reds are preparing to make a bid just shy of £40m for one of Serie A’s top midfielders.

Liverpool preparing £38m bid for Ederson

According to a report from Tutto Atalanta, Liverpool are now preparing an opening offer for Ederson in the hope it tempts Atalanta to sell.

It’s reported that the Italian side may now be open to selling Ederson if they get the right offer.

It comes in the midst of comments from the Brazilian, who has suggested he sees the Premier League as a potential landing spot for his next move.

“I don’t know, I’ve thought about it a lot, I like Italy, I’m well adapted, but I’m curious about the Premier League, so I don’t know,” Ederson said to AS.

“I’m still growing, so I don’t know if I’ll stay in Italy, I think I still have more to prove. If I go somewhere else, then too. I will continue to grow.”

A busy few weeks coming for Liverpool and Michael Edwards

While some might see the Euros being on as reason to not go for players, it could also be the ideal chance to get deals done as well.

It gives Michael Edwards the chance to get to work on some players while others might be resting on their laurels a touch.

Indeed, the situation here with Ederson is an interesting one.

Whether or not this reported £38m offer will be enough to tempt the Serie A side remains to be seen.

But it’s clear Ederson is a player who might be gettable this summer and given Liverpool’s apparent need for a new central midfielder, he seems to tick the boxes.
