National media deliver intriguing verdict on player Nottingham Forest have decided to move on

A player that Nottingham Forest have allowed to leave starred yesterday as Euro 2024 got into full swing.

After Scott McKenna and Scotland were battered by Germany yesterday saw the first day with three games for fans to feast on.

The first of three mouthwatering courses on the football menu saw Switzerland take on Hungary.

That game allowed Forest to take a look atRemo Freuler – who is now going to complete a permanent move to Bologna this summer.

Switzerland romped home 3-1 after a pretty exciting encounter and Freuler didn’t disappoint on the international stage.

National media deliver verdict on Remo Freuler performance

For whatever reason, things just didn’t work out for Freuler when it came to him starring for Forest.

He was often deployed in an unfamiliar position and he did struggle a little bit with the Premier League.

However, there is a player in there and yesterday he claimed an assist as Switzerland won 3-1 against Hungary.

Freuler was given a five out of six rating which by the benchmarks set by 20min means he had a strong performance.

They wrote: “He runs and runs. Power bank and a pit bull at the same time. Worked diligently up front too.”

Forest weren’t the right fit for Freuler

All the way through his career – and on the international stage – Freuler has played for teams that have the ball.

At Forest, Steve Cooper tried to play him in a counter-attacking system and that just didn’t suit his more reserved style of midfield play.

Freuler moved back to Serie A last summer – with Nicolas Dominguez coming from Bologna – and he helped them claim a Champions League place last season.

The 31-year-old isn’t a bad player and his career achievements dictate that.

However, he was probably the right player at the wrong time for Forest and it’s wise for all parties that he’s been moved on permanently this summer.

Freuler is clearly a good footballer and his performance yesterday showcased that.
