Report: £25 million English striker 'couldn't say no' to joining West Ham this summer

Roma striker Tammy Abraham has been attracting attention from West Ham United all summer long now.

West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui wants to bring Tammy Abraham to the London Stadium, but could face competition from the likes of Aston Villa this summer.

Tottenham have been mentioned as potential suitors for the 26-year-old as well, so the Hammers certainly won’t have things all our own way in the race to sign him.

On paper, Tammy is exactly the kind of striker Lopetegui likes to play in his system. Standing at 6ft 3in tall, he’s aerially dominant, but he’s very quick along the ground as well.

Abraham is lethal when presented with a goalscoring opportunity, and always puts in a strong shift for his team.

The ex-Chelsea front-man is proven at the very highest level, and is said to be available for a decent price this summer.

Signing him would come with the added benefit of knowing that he can produce the goods in the Premier League as well.

Now it seems like there’s every chance we could see Tammy playing in the famous Claret and Blue next season…

Major Tammy Abraham to West Ham development

So the Roma striker could be set to return to the Premier League this summer it seems.

According to a report from Corriere della Sera, Abraham’s future could well lie away from Roma beyond the end of this summer.

And there has been a very big development overnight that plays right into the Hammers’ hands.

The London-born centre-forward left Chelsea to join Roma back in the summer of 2021, after West Ham had been heavily linked with signing him.

The 26-year-old has proven himself for Roma, as he has done everywhere else he’s been in his career.

He has scored 130 goals in in 339 career appearances for club and country (Transfermarkt) – a very impressive return.

Abraham is proven at the very highest level, but there’s a big problem – his injury record.

The English hitman has missed 301 days of football since rupturing his ACL when playing for Roma back in 2023 (Transfermarkt).

If West Ham are willing to take a punt on Tammy Abraham though, we should have every chance of signing him this summer.

That’s because Corriere della Sera are claiming that Tammy ‘couldn’t say no’ to a move to the London Stadium.

That’s a big development, with so much competition for his signature from the likes of Tottenham and Everton.

The former Chelsea striker is reportedly available for just £25 million as well – a very reasonable fee for a proven goalscorer.

If Lopetegui is to take the Hammers to the next level, he needs to sign a top quality centre-forward this summer.

Whilst bringing Abraham to West Ham definitely has some risk attached to it, there is undoubtedly a chance that it could end up being an incredible deal for the club.
