West Ham bid for striker was actually worth £30 million, Fabrizio Romano claims

West Ham United have reportedly made a serious striker bid this summer already.

Julen Lopetegui is quite clearly desperate to bring a top-class striker to West Ham in the summer transfer window, and a bid has already been lodged for one man in particular.

Bringing a proven striker to the London Stadium this summer is said to be one of Lopetegui’s two main priorities before the start of the new season.

The Hammers cannot allow yet another transfer window to pass without bringing in a long-term replacement for Michail Antonio.

Samu Omorodion is said to be someone who West Ham are very keen to sign this summer.

The giant forward is hot property this summer, and seems to be attracting attention from all over the continent right now.

In fact, it was claimed that the Hammers had lodged a bid totalling £33 million for the 20-year-old Atletico Madrid front-man.

However, that doesn’t appear to have been the case…

West Ham make striker bid

Yes, the Hammers have made a bid for the young forward, but it was a different offer to what was originally being reported.

Fabrizio Romano took to his official X account to provide an update on Omorodion’s future with Atletico Madrid.

The Italian lifted the lid on West Ham’s bid for the 6ft 4in powerhouse centre-forward, and suggested that Atleti rejected the offer…

I mean, I don’t want us paying anymore than £30 million for a striker who’s only 20, and has hardly proven himself at the very highest level.

He’s a real talent, with huge potential, but has only scored 27 senior goals. Atletico Madrid must be mad to have turned down the £30 million bid from West Ham for the striker.

Either that or they’re utterly deluded. How much do they expect to get for him?

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love Omorodion at the London Stadium, but only for a reasonable fee, and it doesn’t look like we’ll be going north of £30 million for him.

The correct decision in my book.
