‘I’ll sign’: Player says he is not going to leave Everton this summer

There is doom and gloom around Everton at the moment.

Everton are one of the biggest and most well-supported clubs in the Premier League, but things have been dire for them for a while now.

In recent years, the Toffees have been in danger of getting relegated to the Championship.

The takeover issues rumble on at Everton, and there is also the distinct possibility that the Toffees could lose star defender Jarrad Branthwaite to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

There is one silver lining, though. Ashley Young has said that he plans to accept the offer that Everton have made to him.

Young joined Everton on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.

Ashley Young shares his Everton future plan

The 38-year-old former Manchester United star signed a one-year contract with an option for a further 12 months.

In May, Everton announced that they offered a new one-year deal to Young, who has now said that he plans to put pen to paper and extend his stay at Goodison Park.

Young told talkSPORT: “We’re close to everything being resolved. There’s been talks over the summer.

“It’s just about getting the fine details sorted now and I’ll sign that contract.”

Ashley Young will have to be a leader for Everton

Young is 38 now and is past his prime, but he is still going strong and remains very fit.

The Englishman made 27 starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for Everton last season.

Young also made one start and two substitute appearances in the Carabao Cup for the Toffees in the last campaign. He scored one goal in those matches.

The former United star played at right-back, left-back and right-wing for the Merseyside club last season.

Young is a very experienced player, and he will have to be a leader for the team next season.

It could end up being another campaign where the Toffees have to fight against relegation.

Everton will need Young’s experience to get through.
