Oklahoma Man Receives 25-Year Sentence For Drug And Firearm Offenses In Arkansas

A 32-year-old Oklahoma man was sentenced last week in Arkansas to 25 years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl, as well as illegal possession of firearms.

Allen Ray Thompson, a 32-year-old resident of Lawton, Oklahoma, whose arrest stemmed from a traffic stop conducted by Arkansas State Police in Boone County on August 3, 2023, when a narcotics-detecting canine alerted to the presence of drugs in Thompson's vehicle, prompting a search that uncovered a substantial quantity of illegal substances and weapons.

Court documents reveal that Thompson was in possession of 4,934.5 grams of methamphetamine, 1,988 fentanyl pills, and five firearms, one of which was reported stolen. As a previously convicted felon, Thompson was prohibited from possessing firearms.

The U.S. Attorney's Office prosecuted the case in the Western District of Arkansas. U.S. Attorney David Clay Fowlkes emphasized the severity of the crimes, stating that "the amount of drugs and firearms seized in this case is alarming and underscores the importance of our ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and violent crime."

Thompson's sentence also includes a $2,000 fine and five years of supervised release following his imprisonment. This case serves as a reminder of the significant consequences associated with drug and firearm offenses, as well as the dedication of law enforcement agencies to keeping communities safe.
