Florida Gov. DeSantis Gets Final Batch Of Bills

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis received a final batch of 37 bills that passed during the 2024 legislative session on Monday.

The bills include measures to regulate vacation rental properties (SB 280), prohibit drivers from cruising in the left lanes of highways (HB 317), and make controversial changes in ethics laws for public officials (SB 7014).

Also, the legislation includes a bill (HB 21) that would provide $20 million to compensate victims of abuse at the shuttered Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys in Marianna and another state reform school in Okeechobee County.

DeSantis has until July 2 to sign, veto or allow the bills to become law without his signature. He also has not acted on 11 bills that he received earlier.

DeSantis has signed 262 bills from the 2024 session, including the state budget (HB 5001), and vetoed three bills.
