Manchester United battling to beat Xabi Alonso to £10m bargain, he wants to 'win everything'

Manchester United need to find hidden gems this summer rather than chase expensive big names, and one potential diamond target may have emerged into view.

According to RMC, Manchester United are paying ‘close attention’ to Oumar Solet ahead of a potential transfer move.

Oumar Solet contract and potential transfer fee

Oumar Solet is heading into the final year of his contract with Red Bull Salzburg, which expires in June 2025.

Manchester are said to be battling Bundesliga trio Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart for his signature.

Due to his expiring contract, Solet could be available for as little as £10 million. Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen have proven to have an eye for talent, so it could be a real coup to beat them to Solet.

The 24-year-old is a right-footed centre-back. Manchester United are looking to sign two defenders this summer, who can play on either side.

Solet is 1m 92 in height, 6 ft 3″. Last season he made 28 appearances in all competitions, including three Champions League matches.

He has made 106 appearances for Red Bull Salzburg in total, scoring four times.

Solet has a winning attitude. Last year he told The Mail: “I really want to look at myself in 20 years and be proud of what I did. Let’s see what happens and I will give 100 percent with any team I play with.

“I’m the type of guy who wants to win everything. I know individually what I can bring but I know how to support my team mates. This is something I am really proud about.”

Solet dreams of the Premier League

Manchester United will be encouraged in the race for Solet, due to his recently expressed desire to play in England.

He was quoted by Goal late last year: “I just want to show my skills to the whole world. Since the youngest age, I’ve been a fan of the Premier League, but from now on, I am really open about every top league.”

He cited Thiago Silva and Sergio Ramos among his idols, before adding: “When I was young, my favourite players were Cristiano Ronaldo and Ronaldinho.”
