Report: Lopetegui a big fan of La Liga winner with 22 Brazil caps and could sign him for West Ham

So it seems like Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo is a strong transfer target for West Ham United this summer.

Arthur Melo is firmly on the West Ham radar this summer, and it seems to be that the stars are aligning for Julen Lopetegui to bring him to the London Stadium.

The 27-year-old was actually offered to the Hammers last summer, after his disastrous loan spell with Liverpool.

The Brazilian ended up moving to Serie A side Fiorentina instead, and spent last season on loan in Florence.

Now it seems like he’s destined to make the move back to England from Italy.

The diminutive midfielder was a really highly-rated talent when he burst onto the scene a decade ago.

He’s had great success during his time in the game, but his suitability to Premier League football is definitely questionable.

In spite of that, two reasons have emerged as to why Arthur joining the Hammers this summer is highly likely to happen…

Arthur Melo will almost certainly join West Ham this summer

The technically gifted midfielder could well be on the move from Turin this summer.

He spent last season on loan with Fiorentina, but has now returned to Juventus, and the Premier League could well be beckoning for him.

The Hammers are firmly in the race to bring Arthur back to England it seems.

Italian publication Tuttosport claim that Lopetegui is a very big fan indeed of the Juventus midfielder.

The 57-year-old allegedly wanted to sign him during his time in charge of Wolves.

It is also suggested that West Ham have already made contact with Juventus about signing the 27-year-old midfielder this summer.

Juventus are said to be keen to sell the former Barcelona man to the Hammers, so that combined with the fact that Lopetegui is such a big fan of the midfielder makes a transfer to the London Stadium this summer highly likely.

The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move to sign the 22-capped Brazil international already this summer.

So it wouldn’t surprise me if Lopetegui was indeed keen to bring the South American to the London Stadium

However, there will be a big problem if West Ham do sign him in my opinion.

West Ham should avoid Arthur Melo transfer

He is a neat and tidy footballer but I have to say, I don’t want us going anywhere near him this summer.

Sure, Arthur is a La Liga winner, and a Copa America champion, but his time with Liverpool proved that he’s not suited to Premier League football one little bit.

Arthur endured a disastrous spell with Liverpool during the 2022/23 season. The midfielder managed just 13 minutes under Jurgen Klopp, and he didn’t impress one little bit.

The Brazilian is technically gifted but just isn’t built for the Premier League what with his lack of physicality and zero mobility.

If Julen Lopetegui brings Arthur Melo to West Ham this summer, I think it could be a disastrous deal for the club.

Let’s hope that the Italian media have the wrong information.
