Lithuanian Parliament Speaker arrives in Ukraine on visit

Today, June 18, Lithuanian Parliament Speaker Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen arrived in Kyiv for an official visit, informed the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Olena Kondratiuk.

"Met the Speaker at Kyiv railway station. This is an important visit for developing inter-parliamentary cooperation and a testament to the support of Ukrainian-Lithuanian relations," Kondratiuk stated.

Lithuania's position on the war in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Lithuania has been actively assisting Ukraine. In addition to financial and humanitarian support, Vilnius has also been providing military aid. The country supports imposing sanctions against the Russian Federation and integrating Ukraine into the European Union (EU) and NATO.

In May, Lithuania joined the coalition to strengthen Ukraine's air defense and allocated $14.48 million to purchase radars.

In June, it was also announced that Vilnius will transfer 14 M113 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine as part of the demining coalition.
