Report: Chelsea now eye exciting Wolves starlet, as Pedro Lima agrees Molineux move

Chelsea are reportedly looking to sign one of Wolves’ top-rated prospects.

The Blues have just missed out on Pedro Lima, who is set to join Wolves from Sport Recife after an agreement was reached on Monday.

The news came out of the blue, with Wolves reportedly set to pay around £8.5 million for the right-back.

The 17-year-old looked to be all set to join Chelsea, but the deal fell through and Wolves swooped – much to the delight of Matheus Cunha, who had talked up the player’s quality a few days prior.

But last night, it was claimed that Chelsea are looking to raid Wolves for one of their current youngsters.

A couple of hours after news Wolves had reached an agreement to sign Pedro Lima dropped, there was then word that Chelsea are looking to sign Wesley Okoduwa from Molineux.

That is according to The Secret Scout, and account that focuses on the stars of tomorrow in football.

They exclusively claimed that Chelsea are looking to land Okoduwa, saying the Blues are ‘actively pursuing’ the 16-year-old.

They say that talks are ongoing with Wolves over a fee for the right-back. He is wanted to fill a position within their U18s side.

After that claim, another respected account which focuses on youth players @AcademyScoop claimed that Wolves’ position is that the youngster is ‘not for sale’. Chelsea would need to pay above the odds to secure his signature.

U18s gem Okoduwa is a player Wolves have high hopes for. He has already represented England at youth level.

Back in April, Gary O’Neil named Okoduwa on the bench for the game against Arsenal amid a shortage of players.

Wolves should stand firm

So Chelsea have set their sights on Okoduwa, and it will be interesting to see if they are willing to pay over the odds to get him.

They have just missed out on Lima to Wolves, and one wonders if there is any connection to that deal.

Hopefully, Wolves are able to keep Okoduwa and he can continue developing nicely in the academy. He’s clearly a young player with a lot of ability for O’Neil to have already put him on the first-team bench.

Having said that, perhaps the deal to sign Lima will loosen Wolves’ stance a bit.
