Aston Villa fans fuming about one thing after seeing their 24/25 Premier League fixture list

Aston Villa now know their Premier League schedule for the 2024/25 season, with the fixtures released on Tuesday morning.

Whilst the club will have to wait a while yet to know who they will face in the Champions League next season, fans will be scouring the Premier League fixtures for all the key dates.

Unai Emery will be hoping to steer Aston Villa to another top four finish but knows it will be difficult alongside a Champions League campaign and the likely improvement of a number of underperforming sides from last season.

The opening game is always a cause for excitement and Villa will start the new season with a trip to London to face West Ham United on the weekend of the 17th August.

The first game at Villa Park will take place a week later as Villa welcome Arsenal to the Midlands in a tasty clash so early in the season.

As well as on the opening day, Villa will also be away from home on Boxing Day and the final day, as they face Newcastle United and Manchester United respectively.

Aston Villa fans react to 2024/25 Premier League schedule

Despite the season ending less than a month ago, the fixture release means Villa fans can start to really get excited for the year ahead.

Under Emery they will be confident they can have another very successful season and fans have been reacting to their schedule on X.

Many fans were left unhappy at the fact Villa face away games on the three dates football fans tend to look out for first on the fixture list, with the first and last day as well as Boxing Day.

One fan posted “How do we start and finish away again?!”, whilst another said “That Boxing Day trip to Newcastle is a stinker”.

One fan angrily reacted: “Away from home on the opening, final and Boxing Day.”

The away fixture dates were a sore subject for a lot of fans, with another ‘X’ user posting: “Obviously we are away first game, as always. November is hard, will be playing CL too. Xmas is hard too. The rest is ok. Annoyed last game is away too.”

Another supporter added: “Three fixtures I look at, first day, Boxing Day and last day, all away…”

One fan simply accepted the inevitability of it all, saying: “Away on the first game of the season is like always getting a Premier League team in the early rounds of the FA Cup… inevitable.”

Aston Villa avoid any really tough runs of fixtures

Whilst the frustration at the three key dates in the English football calendar all being away from home for Villa is understandable, fans can be happy with their schedule overall.

That is because they have managed to avoid any runs of games that you would look at and say are really difficult.

The first five league games are West Ham, Arsenal, Leicester City, Everton and Wolves, whilst the last five are slightly tougher with Manchester City, Fulham, Bournemouth, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

November is perhaps the trickiest month, with Tottenham, Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Chelsea, but that is about as tough as it gets with how the fixtures have panned out.

Villa fans will be hoping they still have plenty to play for come the season finale away at Old Trafford, although last season they had secured a top four spot with a game to spare.
