'Just a joke': Declan Rice says he has seen a player at Aston Villa whose left foot is 'unbelievable'

Arsenal star Declan Rice has made an interesting claim about one Aston Villa player.

Villa have a fantastic squad. They were amazing in the 2023/24 season and deservedly qualified for the Champions League.

Rice, who will also play in Europe’s most prestigious club competition next season, has played with some unbelievable players for club and country over the years.

It’s not easy to blow him away, but it looks like one Aston Villa player has done that recently.

Declan Rice shares what has really impressed him about Ollie Watkins

Ollie Watkins has been a star for Aston Villa.

The Englishman, who has often been linked with a move to big clubs, had a spectacular 2023/24 season and was arguably Unai Emery’s best player.

Watkins scored 27 goals and provided 13 assists in all competitions. 40 direct goal contributions is an outrageous return for any player.

The 28-year-old is naturally right-footed. Only four of his 27 goals came from his left foot last season, which is no surprise to those who have watched him.

However, Watkins apparently has a stunning left foot too.

That’s according to Arsenal star Rice, who has claimed that Watkins’ weak foot is ‘unbelievable’ – he even called it a ‘joke’.

In a video on England’s social channels, Rice was asked to describe his international teammates by using just one word.

When asked about Watkins, the impressed Arsenal midfielder used a lot more than just a word.

Rice said: “Weak foot! His weak foot is unbelievable! He has got so much more than that but his weak foot is just a joke!”

Chances of Ollie Watkins leaving Aston Villa to join Arsenal

Watkins is good enough to play for many top clubs.

The Englishman has often been linked with moves to the traditional top-six of English football, especially Mikel Arteta‘s Arsenal.

Watkins grew up as an Arsenal fan and Theo Walcott even claimed that he is striker the Gunners would consider signing in this summer’s transfer window.

However, if journalist Steve Kay is to be believed, Arsenal will not sign Watkins from Aston Villa this summer.

That should be good news for Villa fans, who need their star striker for the upcoming season in the Champions League.
