The impressive statistic that Jorginho has already recorded at Euro 2024

Jorginho has been showing Chelsea what they lost at Euro 2024.

Chelsea sold Jorginho to their London rivals Arsenal in the 2023 January transfer window.

The midfielder helped the Gunners compete for the Premier League title last season and is now looking to win the European Championship with Italy again.

His country got off to a good start in the tournament after beating Albania 2-1.

Jorginho started the game and quickly reminded everyone just how good he is in possession.

Jorginho’s performance against Albania

Albania are obviously not the strongest team competing in Germany. Nevertheless, Jorginho still put in a brilliant performance against Sylvinho’s men.

Following that game, Jorginho has made more accurate passes (119) than any other player at Euro 2024 so far, according to WhoScored.

One hundred and fifteen of those passes were short ones and four were long.

Next season, Enzo Maresca will be hoping that Enzo Fernandez can dominate games in that kind of manner.

Why Chelsea fans will not care too much about the club selling Jorginho

The fact that Chelsea signed Fernandez in the same transfer window Jorginho left Stamford Bridge made his departure quite acceptable to supporters.

The 23-year-old is an excellent midfielder in his own right, while Jorginho’s contract was obviously running down.

Like the Italy international, Fernandez is also very good at moving the ball and in the right direction.

As per FBref, the World Cup winner has ranked in the 96th percentile for progressive passes among midfielders over the last year, while Jorginho has ranked in the 93rd.

Last season was not an easy one for Fernandez and Chelsea as a whole as they managed to scrape sixth place.

Having undergone surgery now to sort out an injury problem, though, the Stamford Bridge faithful should get to see their club’s second-most expensive signing ever at his best. If not, because of his price tag, questions are going to be asked.
