Taylor Swift fans cruelly misled into believing Meredith the cat died

A TikTok user recently shared a post captioned “RIP Meredith Gray” with crying emojis. It contained a slideshow beginning with the dates “2011-2014” in memoriam of Taylor’s beloved pet.

Fans were left absolutely devastated in the comments section, and the post currently has a massive 269k reactions, along with 40.1k shares. However, there has been no official confirmation whatsoever that Meredith, Taylor’s oldest cat at 13 years old, has passed away.

“There’s no way,” a fan commented in sheer disbelief.

“Wait, is this for real?” another asked, to which a fan reassured them it wasn’t. All the same, it’s duped a lot of people who are begging for confirmation in the comments.

“Oh my god, I audibly gasped,” one replied upon realizing there was no authentication behind the post.

Irritated by the claim, a Swiftie called out the user as a “liar” and received thousands of likes for reinforcements.

Back in the all-so-distant year of 2021, rumors were swirling online that Meredith had gone missing. This was simply because Tay was sharing pictures and videos of the other cats without her.

“We’ve been hearing some rumors on the Internet recently,” Taylor addressed in a video on social media, dispelling any notions that Meredith isn’t around.

“The truth is, Meredith just hates having her picture taken,” she outlined. “That’s the explanation. She’s just a really private little cat. She likes her business kept to herself. She doesn’t like a camera shoved in her face, and who can blame her?”
