'Expected to': Sky reporter drops ominous update on £50k-a-week Wolves player as PL rival lurk

Wolves are reportedly ‘expected’ to receive a formal approach for one of their players soon.

It has been a surprisingly active summer so far for Wolves, with three players joining the club so far.

Tommy Doyle‘s loan move from Manchester City was turned permanent, and then Rodrigo Gomes came in from Braga after a fine loan spell at Estoril.

Then on Monday, news surfaced that Wolves had beaten Chelsea to Brazilian youngster Pedro Lima. He is expected to officially sign on July 1.

Up to now, there have been no outgoings. But there has been plenty of speculation, with Pedro Neto and Rayan Ait-Nouri the two players who have been written about the most.

But there has also been some talk about Max Kilman potentially leaving, and today there has been a new claim about the Wolves captain.

Kilman was the most used player for Gary O’Neil at Wolves last season.

He played every single minute of the club’s Premier League campaign, and only missed the defeat to Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup.

He has been a mainstay in the starting XI for around three seasons now.

But despite his status as club captain and someone who rarely ever misses a game, there is speculation he could leave this summer, and West Ham United are keen.

According to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth today, West Ham are now expected to come calling for the 27-year-old. He wrote on X: “West Ham United expected to formally approach Wolves over signing defender Max Kilman.

“Wolves don’t want to sell – and under no pressure to.

“Captain Kilman signed 5-year contract last summer. West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui managed Kilman at Wolves. #WHUFC #Wolves.”

Last season, Kilman was also used heavily for Wolves by Lopetegui. Seemingly, the Spaniard liked what he saw from Kilman and is now ready to raid his former club.

Wolves should hear offers

Kilman has been a fantastic servant for Wolves and is definitely a capable Premier League centre-back.

The club appear to not want to sell, but if West Ham come in with a bid of around £45 million, which is the reported asking price at the moment, then Wolves surely have to consider selling.

While £50,000-a-week star Kilman has some fantastic attributes, such as breaking the lines with his passing, raking the ball out wide to the wing-backs and carrying the ball out of defence, there are still some question marks over his effectiveness in a back four.

It has also be noted by some fans that he isn’t as good when Craig Dawson isn’t playing alongside him.

We will see what kind of approach West Ham make. But certainly, Wolves should not shy away from selling for the right price.
