Report: Defender wanted by Nottingham Forest now available for £14m and Marinakis knows him well

The transfer window is now open and for Nottingham Forest that normally signals a busy time.

The Reds have been active in the market since winning promotion to the Premier League in 2022.

Forest have experienced a very high turnover of players since joining the top-flight and perhaps that will change a little bit this summer.

Still, Forest are under pressure to sell with FFP loitering over the club still and incoming business will also take place.

Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo will want to add to his squad and a central defender could be on the shortlist.

Today, it’s been claimed that one player linked with Forest this summer could now be on the move boosting the Reds’ chances of signing him.

Nottingham Forest target David Carmo is now for sale

This is big news from a Forest perspective, with Porto defender David Carmo on their shortlist of transfer targets.

The Reds want to sign the player who spent last year on loan with Olympiacos.

During his time in Greece, he helped the club win the UEFA Conference League to become the first team from that nation to win a European trophy.

Valued at £15 million, however, Evangelos Marinakis can’t afford to sign him for Olympiacos and instead wants him at Forest.

According to Record, Porto are looking to sell the player and sign someone else, paving the way for Forest to make their move.

It’s also claimed that the Reds aren’t the only interested party, however, with Wolves and Leicester also monitoring the defender.

Carmo could prove perfect Forest signing this summer

At a small £15 million fee, Carmo might be just the signing that Forest need to make this summer.

Carmo is on the back of a brilliant season with Olympiacos where he made 35 appearances in all competitions.

At 24-years-old there is more to come from Carmo and it’s intriguing that Porto are now willing to sell him this summer.

Forest have lostFelipe through retirement already, whilst interest remains rife in Murillo as the club aims to comply with PSR.

That would leave Moussa Niakhate and Andrew Omobamidele as central defensive options and another will be sought.

Given that Marinakis has signed him before, surely Forest would have the edge over Wolves and Leicester in this race.

Hopefully, a deal can be struck and given the rapport between Carmo and the Forest owner, perhaps it’s a transfer that could happen very quickly.
