‘I’m told’: Journalist shares what he’s heard on Crysencio Summerville joining Liverpool after Brighton talks

An update has now been shared on the chances of Crysencio Summerville joining Liverpool this summer amid an approach from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Summerville is a hot commodity this summer with several Premier League clubs interested in the Leeds United winger.

Having shone towards the end of Leeds’ relegation campaign in 2022/33, Summerville made massive strides in the Championship last season and seems ready for a move.

And in a summer in which Leeds need to raise funds, the Dutchman seems much more likely to leave than Archie Gray for example.

That being said, Brighton have now reportedly opened talks to sign Summerville and are judged to be leading the way by many.

It was said that Arne Slot wanted Summerville at Anfield, but it appears as if Liverpool are still in the early stages of formulating their transfer plans.

Moreover, with that in mind, talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has now shared an update on Summerville’s future.

Brighton won’t have a free run at Crysencio Summerville but Liverpool interest has cooled

Although Crook admitted Brighton were in the driving seat, he didn’t think the seaside club would have a free run at the signing.

But the journalist did point out that Liverpool’s interest had now cooled, perhaps ruling the Reds out of a move.

Crooks said (8:49am,18/06): “I don’t expect them [Brighton] to have a free run at Summerville. I think a lot of Premier League clubs have him on their radar.

“There has been talk of Liverpool, although I am told maybe that interest has cooled slightly. It’s going to be a good deal for Leeds.

“I think they are pricing him at around £30 million, so money to reinvest in their squad potentially.”

Liverpool could be watching Federico Chiesa at Euro 2024

Regardless of their pursuit for Summerville, it does seem as if Liverpool would be well-advised to add a winger this summer.

Even with Mohamed Salah staying, Slot would benefit from more creativity out wide – a crucial area of his gameplan.

Slot relies on his wingers to craft scoring chances, which is fortunate given the talent that exists at Anfield.

And therefore a player like Federico Chiesa, who would be available to Liverpool at a cut-price this summer, would be a smart addition.

And fortunately for Liverpool, they will be able to continue to scout Chiesa at Euro 2024 this month given his key role for Italy.
